The disadvantage of staying still for too long also stems from the fact that the one who takes the initiative has both a tactical and technical advantage.

Consider a situation where you’re waiting behind a corner after hearing an enemy nearby. Unfortunately, the enemy may have also heard or seen you and knows your position.

​

If they decide to peek out and shoot, they’ll have a double advantage because:

​

1. You’ll have a reaction delay before you start shooting.

2. Since it’s an online game, even with a great connection, there’s always a slight delay between pressing the trigger and the game servers registering and processing your action.

3. You may experience other kind of lags (e.g. input lag).

 

That’s why it’s crucial to understand how to act in each situation.

Never assume that an enemy you’ve spotted hasn’t spotted you in return. Always assess carefully before deciding whether to stay still or take action.
