ADS and Point Fire
In EFT, your character holds their weapon in a Point Fire position when not Aiming Down Sights (ADS).
This means that, unlike in most FPS games where the alternative to ADS is hip fire, your character keeps the weapon shouldered and can shoot with high accuracy at close-range targets (up to around 15-20 meters) without needing to aim through the sights.
The advantages of Point Fire shooting are that you can move much faster, your field of view is less restricted, and you don’t lose time raising the weapon and aiming through the sight.
Mastering Point Fire is one of the key skills for winning engagements in EFT.
Initially, it won’t be easy, because in the Point Fire position, you don’t have a crosshair like in other games, and the point of aim isn’t centered on your screen; it’s wherever your weapon barrel is pointed when you shoot. This is influenced by your movement, and even when you’re stationary, it’s not perfectly aligned with the center of your screen and it will sway.
Using laser sights can be a huge help, as they allow you to see where you’re aiming without raising your weapon. However, you won’t have access to these attachments at the beginning, so you’ll need to get used to aiming without them.
Even though you won’t have access to them initially, it’s worth noting that attachments like laser sights, flashlights, and infrared illuminators can significantly reduce weapon spread and improve accuracy.
Practice shooting without ADSing to get comfortable with this technique. It will take some time, but once you master it, the benefits are enormous, and defenitely worth the pain.
